HEALTH MANAGEMENT. The FDA takes Dr. Oz Over Apple juice

"This considerable fear, it reminds me yelling fire in a movie theatre."
-Dr. RICHARD BESSER, Health of ABC News and editor in Chief Medical Officer, Dr. Mehmet Oz, television host and contributor of time, the criticism over claims that he made his show Wednesday on the dangers of traces of arsenic in Apple juice. A laboratory hired by the Dr. Oz Show found higher levels of total arsenic in Apple juice that the FDA permits in bottled water - a threat to public health, said of Oz. But in a letter to the show, the FDA called Oz "irresponsible and misleading" claims because the performance of the test does not distinguish between organic and inorganic arsenic, a point key, the Agency said, since only inorganic arsenic are toxic. Bottled water contains more than inorganic arsenic, organic shape is found in foods, including the juice. The FDA, Apple Juice is safe to drink. [via ABC News]
