26 September 2011 Last updated at 12:38 GMT A man accused of contaminating packs of painkiller with powerful anti-psychotic drugs has been remanded in custody.
Christopher McGuire, 30, of no fixed address, allegedly tampered with packs of Nurofen Plus.
He is charged with one count of contaminating goods and two of administering a noxious substance.
Mr McGuire appeared at a brief hearing in West London Magistrates' Court, speaking only to confirm his name and place of birth.
He was remanded by District Judge John Zani to appear at Southwark Crown Court on 2 December for a plea and case management hearing.
Manufacturer Reckitt Benckiser recalled the pain relief tablets and stopped its distribution on 26 August.
Four packs were found to contain the drug Seroquel XL 50mg. They were bought in Victoria, Bromley and Beckenham in south London.
A pack containing prescription medicine for epilepsy, Neurontin, in 100mg capsules, was discovered in Northern Ireland.
Nurofen Plus is for pain relief and contains codeine and ibuprofen.
